HTML

HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language. This is the language that websites are built in.

Many people build their web sites using authoring software such as Front Page or Dreamweaver. You can even use Word or Publisher. However, if you take a look at the HTML coding it is full of unnecessary coding which can add "weight" to your web site. Using HTML  typed into an editor such as Notepad (you will find it in "Accessories") gives a much cleaner code. Until you are used to it it does take more time to produce your web site.

A little knowledge of HTML is useful. I find that Front Page doesn't always "behave" itself and I have to delve into the code (click on the HTML tab) to sort it out.

You can see the HTML of peoples' pages by clicking on  "View"  and then "Source" in your Browser.
